When the Wester Pickston Railway was being developed one of the first buildings to be erected was a workshop with a clubroom attached. The clubroom is the focal point of the site particulary on a wet day. A wood burning stove keeps the room warm on cold winter days. On a Public Open Day the room is open to visitors who can purchase a hot drink and a snack.
The extensive workshop facility on site is equipped with lathes, milling machines, power saws, welding equipment and a small foundry for members to use. On Open Days static displays show a range of members different models. Our members are keen to encourage new and younger members into the model engineering hobby and will help develop skills. One of our younger members started with the trust a few years ago and was encouraged to learn new skills. He recently completed an apprenticeship with a local engineering firm and is now employed full time by them as an aerospace engineer.
