A chance to purchase this layout was too good an opportunity to miss. Initially it was acquired as a diorama although it had been wired for DCC operation. To make it into an exhibition layout, a fiddle yard was constructed, and the points were motorised using Cobalt motors. The whole scenic section was mounted into a case which frames the layout and protects it from the rigours of transportation to and from exhibitions. Lighting is from LED strips mounted in the roof of the case.
The layout is wired for DCC and uses the Gaugemaster Prodigy system. The track is SMP fine scale track and the fiddle yard utilises PECO Code 75.
Set in the 1960s BR period, the layout is very much for shunting with traffic coming and going from the cement works. A number of different wagon types can be seen along with a variety of locomotives. The buildings are all scratch-built by the previous owner and make a good representation of the different loading facilities available at the wharf. Careful observation will give the viewer clues as to what sort of everyday items have been used to create this industrial scene. Several cameo scenes complete the picture. As operated from the front, we like the opportunity to chat to the viewers so please ask as many questions as you wish.
